Thomas Carhart has a long career in managing equity and fixed-income portfolios, especially for nonprofit institutions, wealthy family groups, Japanese insurance companies, and European mutual funds. He is the Founding Principal of South Street Advisors LLC, a New York-based registered investment advisor, which has been providing discretionary investment management services since 1996.

Mr. Carhart’s previous professional affiliation was at Brown Brothers Harriman & Co. (1986–95), where he supervised a department that provided U.S. and global investment-management services to overseas investors. Under his direction, assets under management increased from $200 million to $1.2 billion. Prior to that, Mr. Carhart spent two years at Carlisle Decoppet & Co., where he was a trader on the floor of the New York Stock Exchange.

Mr. Carhart earned a bachelor’s degree at Antioch College and a MBA at Columbia University. A board member of Arts for Art, in New York City, and Prevent Child Abuse America, he has also served as a board member of Antioch College, the Maternity Center Association, and the New York Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Children.
