Stephen Ban

Retired, Former Managing Director, Investment Solutions, Hightower Advisors

Stephen Ban is a longtime leader of the Chicago business community who recently served as Managing Director, Investment Solutions at Hightower Advisors, a Chicago- based, national registered investment advisor that provides investment, financial, and retirement planning services to individuals, foundations and family offices. Stephen began his career as a brand manager at the Quaker Oats Company, then, after an unusual detour in the radio comedy business, worked as a creative and account executive at the Chicago office of Ogilvy & Mather.

Thereafter, he led marketing efforts for several multi-billion dollar companies including Heller Financial, Aon Corporation, T. Rowe Price, and Nuveen. At the latter, he developed a passion for ESG and sustainable investing, which he continues to pursue.

Stephen is an accomplished triathlete and is Chair of the Board of Trustees of the USA Triatholon Foundation, the charitable arm of the triatholon’s National Governing Body. The Foundation’s goal is to make multisport accessible to everyone with a particular focus on youth and disabled athletes.

He also served on the board of METROSquash, a Chicago-based youth organization that combines academic support, enrichment opportunities and competitive squash to empower students to realize their potential and make their mark; and of OpenBooks and the National Center for Summer Learning, both focused on promoting literacy and learning.

He is a volunteer guide for visually impaired and wheelchair athletes through Dare2Tri, a nationwide organization dedicated to providing access to multisport for adaptive athletes. He holds an A.B. in Economics from Princeton University and is a member of the Chicago Club and the Economic Club of Chicago.
