Jerry Milner, DSW

Jerry Milner has devoted his career to transforming the nation’s child welfare system into one that strengthens families rather than separates them. As Co-Director and Co-Founder of the Family Justice Group, LLC, he partners with communities to advance prevention-oriented, family-centered approaches that promote child and family well-being.

Previously, Dr. Milner served as Associate Commissioner of the U.S. Children’s Bureau and Acting Commissioner of the Administration on Children, Youth and Families, where he guided federal child welfare policy and funding for all states and tribes. His earlier leadership in Alabama’s child welfare reform laid the groundwork for national progress toward family justice.

A prolific author and respected advocate, Dr. Milner continues to elevate voices for equity and systemic change. He earned both his Doctor and Master of Social Work from the University of Alabama and his Bachelor of Arts from Auburn University.
