Dr. Harold Hong

Dr. Harold Hong is a board-certified psychiatrist with a passion for supporting recovery from substance use disorders and addiction. His holistic approach integrates family-of-origin trauma recovery, mindfulness practices, and the judicious use of medication and somatic therapies. He is the founder of Provia Healthcare, a multi-specialty mental health provider based in North Carolina. Dr. Hong spent more than six years at the Durham VA Medical Center, helping patients progress toward recovery through talk therapy and medication management. Earlier in his career, he was an associate at McKinsey & Co., advising insurance companies, health systems, and health sector investors. He earned a bachelor’s degree in philosophy from the University of Michigan and a dual MD and MA in bioethics. He completed his psychiatry residency at Duke University, where he served as chief resident of the Family Studies Clinic and earned an MBA from the Duke Fuqua School of Business.
