Statement on the death of Congresswoman Jackie Walorski, Zachery Potts, and Emma Thomson

Statements & Messages

The Prevent Child Abuse America and Healthy Families America community is deeply saddened by the loss of Congresswoman Jackie Walorski and her two staffers, Zachery Potts and Emma Thomson, who tragically passed away yesterday. We extend our sincerest condolences to the families and the many friends and colleagues who will miss their passion and dedication to their country, the state of Indiana and the constituents they served.

As Ranking Member of the House Committee on Ways and Means Subcommittee on Worker and Family Support, we will miss Congresswoman Walorski’s incredible advocacy for home visiting and her work as a champion for all children and families. She recognized and promoted the critical supports that home visiting provides for families, wanting families to have the healthy start needed to thrive. Congresswoman Walorski never cut short her time with families or home visitors who shared their stories with her.

Today we mourn her loss, but will honor her legacy with our ongoing commitment, partnerships and programs that create safe, stable and healthy homes for children and families in Indiana and across America.
