Announcing Bart Klika as Our New Chief Research and Strategy Officer

Prevent Child Abuse America is thrilled to announce that Bart Klika, MSW, PhD, is joining our national office staff as our new Chief Research and Strategy Officer. A father of two young daughters, Bart is currently re-locating his family from Montana to Chicago and will be officially officially joining our National Office on June 26.

Bart has most recently served as an assistant professor of social work at the University of Montana, where his research focused on the causes and consequences associated with child abuse and neglect in an effort to prevent its occurrence. Additionally, Bart is a member of the American Professional Society on the Abuse of Children and is the Chairman of the APSAC Prevention Committee, one the fastest growing committees at APSAC.

Bart holds a PhD from the University of Washington, in addition to a MSW from the University of Chicago and BA in Psychology from the University of Montana. During his doctoral studies, Bart served as a research consultant for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) examining issues related to the prevention of child abuse and neglect. In 2011, Bart was one of the inaugural recipients of the Doris Duke Fellowship for the Promotion of Child Well-Being, a fellowship designed for doctoral students seeking innovations in the prevention of child abuse and neglect. Bart has also worked with Dr. Jeff Linkenbach of the Montana Institute, diving deeper into social norms around children and parenting.
