Key Issue Areas
Participate in Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) prevention efforts with the program Positive Childhood Experiences (PCEs).
Lead in Neglect prevention efforts.
Lead in Child Sexual Abuse (CSA) prevention efforts with the program Stewards of Children (Darkness to Light).
Participate in Corporal Punishment (CP) prevention efforts with the programs No Hit Zones and Positive Parenting Programming.
Utilizing the Protective Factors Framework through ACEs, Advocacy, and Home Visiting.
Implementing the Essentials for Childhood Framework strategies: Raise Awareness & Commitment and Norms Change and Programs.
The chapter works with the following evidence-based home visiting models: Early Head Start (Home Visiting), Family Resource Centers (FRCs), Healthy Families America (HFA), Nurse Family Partnership (NFP), and Parents as Teachers (PAT) and participates in the statewide home visiting coalition.
Advocacy efforts include
- Creating a statute that will allow seamless funding of home visiting in Virginia
- Funding for our CHIP program to become evidence-based that opens up federal funding
