Strengthening families, organizations and communities to prevent child abuse and neglect.

Key Issue Areas

Lead in Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) prevention efforts with the program ACE Interface.

Utilizing the Protective Factors Framework through ACEs, Home Visiting, and Training.

Implementing the Essentials for Childhood Framework strategies: Raise Awareness & Commitment, Use Data to Inform Solutions, Norms Change and Programs, and Policy/Advocacy.

The chapter works with the following evidence-based home visiting models: Family Resource Centers (FRCs), Healthy Families America (HFA), Nurse Family Partnership (NFP), Parents as Teachers (PAT), and Triple P and participates in the statewide home visiting coalition.

Advocacy efforts include

  • state funding ($250,000) for required federal match to expand home visitng through MIECHV
  • Univeral school breakfast and lunches in public schools
  • Improve child care access via business tax credit legislation to provide employee stipends
