Prevent Child Abuse Michigan

The Children’s Trust Fund serves as a voice for Michigan’s children and families and promotes their health, safety, and welfare by funding effective local programs and services that prevent child abuse and neglect.

Key Issue Areas

Leads in Abuse Head Trauma (AHT) prevention efforts and served 30,663 individuals in 2020 with the programs Happiest Baby on the Block, Period of Purple Crying, All Babies Cry, and Baby Think It Over.

Co-leads in Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) prevention efforts and served 30,663 individuals in 2020 with the programs ACE Interface and State Coalition on ACEs.

Leads in Neglect prevention efforts and served 30,663 individuals in 2020 with the program Strengthening Families Program.

Co-leads in Child Sexual Abuse (CSA) prevention efforts with the program Stewards of Children (Darkness to Light).

Participates in Child Sexual Abuse (CSA) prevention efforts and served 26,420 individuals in 2020 with the programs No Hit Zones, Positive Parenting Programming, Corporal Punishment Ban in Schools, and Non-Violent Parent/Caregiver Training.

Utilizing the Protective Factors Framework through ACEs, Home Visiting, and Training.

The chapter works with the following evidence-based home visiting models: Early Head Start (Home Visiting), Family Spirit, Healthy Families America (HFA), Parents as Teachers (PAT), and Triple P and participates in the statewide home visiting coalition.

Advocacy efforts include

  • Organizational Structure--MI CTF is an independent, autonomous Type 1 agency and administratively housed in DHHS which needs definition
  • Utilization of private funds through Children Services could be managed by CTF and thereby leverage the multiplier effect through CBCAP
  • Educating legislators along with our advocacy partner on issues of Safe Sleep, Paid Family Medical Leave, PDG , Fatherhood and Family Resource Center programming, to name a few.

The chapter partners with businesses/corporations, exchange clubs, faith-based organizations, foundations, General Federaltion of Women's Clubs, Kappa Delta, Kids Count, schools, Sigma Delta Tau, and United Way.
