Maine Children’s Trust works to strengthen families, promote healthy relationships, and support communities to prevent child abuse and neglect.
Key Issue Areas
Lead in Abuse Head Trauma (AHT) prevention efforts with the programs Period of Purple Crying and Baby Think It Over.
Participates in Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) prevention efforts.
Co-lead in Neglect prevention efforts.
Lead in Child Sexual Abuse (CSA) prevention efforts with the program Healthy Relationships Project.
Utilizing the Protective Factors Framework through ACEs, Advocacy, Evaluation, Home Visiting, and Training.
Implementing the Essentials for Childhood Framework strategies: Raise Awareness & Commitment and Norms Change and Programs.
The chapter works with the following evidence-based home visiting model: Parents as Teachers (PAT).

- Funding Family Resource Centers
- Increasing Prevention Workforce funding/development
- Mandated Support laws
Prevent Child Abuse Maine is part of Maine Children's Trust Inc., and is also affiliated with Children's Trust Fund, Circle of Parents, National Children's Alliance, and National Family Support Network.
