Anita Odom

National Director of State Chapters

“Growing up in poverty and under oppression taught me the importance of equity. Having a career where I can influence societal conditions to create equal opportunity for all families and children, is simply a gift and privilege.”

Anita has been working in prevention since 2004 and served in a variety of capacities. She started her career with The Ounce of Prevention Fund of Florida where she first managed a $28 million state contract for home visitation with the Healthy Families Florida (HFF) program and later coordinated a randomized-control trial research as part of the Building Strong Families national initiative under the direction of Mathematica Policy Research. She served as the state chapter director for Prevent Child Abuse Florida for a number of years, prior to joining the national office team in 2015. Anita received her BA in educational management, magna cum laude, from University of Pecs and her BS in sociology, cum laude, from Florida State University.
