Chicago — Prevent Child Abuse America (PCA America), the nation’s oldest and largest organization committed to preventing child abuse and neglect before it happens, announced today that Mary Lubben joined the organization as its new Chief Financial Officer, starting Sept. 18.
Previously, Lubben served as Director of Finance & Operations / Vicariate Finance Manager for the Archdiocese of Chicago; Chief Financial Officer at The Frances Xavier Warde School; and Executive Director and Head of Global Contracts & Documentation Management at JPMorgan Chase. At the Archdiocese of Chicago, she built and implemented robust reporting and predictive tools, including profitability and cash flow forecasting models, for a $250 million portfolio of 150 schools and churches. Her work improved sustainability, ensured liquidity, and guided long-term financial planning throughout the Archdiocese.
During her career at JPMorgan Chase, she held a succession of roles, among them Chief Financial and Administrative Officer for a multibillion-dollar commercial card business, where she revamped finance, risk, legal, and compliance infrastructure to facilitate expansion. In addition to her work in the private and non-profit sectors, Lubben has served multiple terms as an elected representative to the local school councils (LSCs) for several Chicago public schools. In this role she has been part of diverse teams that have had a meaningful impact on children’s lives.
Lubben is a lifelong advocate of child well-being, with much of her work with Chicago Public Schools focusing on improving student outcomes in schools with large, disadvantaged populations. She takes pride in her ability to implement rigorous financial and budgeting processes to successfully support those goals.
“Mary’s combined experience in finance and her longtime commitment to ensuring brighter and more hopeful futures for children will strengthen PCA America’s long-term health and growth so that we can do even more to help families thrive,” said Dr. Melissa Merrick, President & CEO of PCA America. “We’re incredibly excited to work with Mary as both a partner in prevention and a tremendous resource to the organization as we continue our journey of collaborative, equitable solutions for families and children here in Chicago and across the country.”
“I’m proud to be part of an organization that is driven by data and informed by the insights of real families and those with lived experience,” Lubben said. “PCA America’s commitment to addressing the root causes of child abuse and neglect is the key to unlocking better outcomes for all families. I am inspired by the work and mission of this team and looking forward to connecting with the PCA America network, partners and others dedicated to prevention.”
Lubben received her Master of Business Administration (MBA) with a focus in finance from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management. She received her Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, specializing in Industrial Design. Lubben resides in Chicago with her husband. They have three grown children and two tiny grandchildren, all of whom live much too far away.
