PCA America Endorses the Jackie Walorski Maternal and Child Home Visiting Reauthorization Act of 2022

Statements & Messages

Prevent Child Abuse America (PCA America) and Healthy Families America (HFA) are pleased to endorse the Jackie Walorski Maternal and Child Home Visiting Reauthorization Act of 2022. We thank the leaders of the Committee on Ways and Means and Energy and Commerce Committee of the U.S. House of Representatives for their dedicated bipartisan work to support and strengthen families through this reauthorization of the Maternal, Infant, and Early Childhood Home Visiting (MIECHV) Program.

MIECHV is a cornerstone of evidence-based public policy and enjoys widespread bipartisan support, as demonstrated by the impressive list of cosponsors for this bill. As a result of MIECHV, home visiting has a strong infrastructure in all 50 states, the District of Columbia, and five U.S. Territories. The proposed bipartisan agreement provides the first increase to the program in more than a decade. By doubling the existing funding level, the program will serve more eligible families, expand MIECHV’s reach in underserved communities and support the home visiting workforce.

It is only fitting that such a significant piece of legislation reauthorizing MIECHV honors its namesake, the late Ranking Member Jackie Walorski. The Congresswomen’s commitment, unwavering support and dedication to pass a bipartisan reauthorization of MIECHV with Chairman Danny K. Davis will have a lasting impact on children and families across the U.S. who will benefit from high quality home visiting services and supports through this meaningful legislation.
