We are thrilled to announce our newest Prevent Child Abuse America chapter in Washington, D.C. in partnership with Safe Shores. Established in 1995, Safe Shores is an accredited Children’s Advocacy Center that works to prevent child abuse and neglect through education and training throughout the community in addition to providing intervention, hope and healing to more than 1,800 children and families throughout the District of Columbia.
The Prevent Child Abuse District of Columbia chapter will be led by Michele Booth Cole, J.D., Executive Director of Safe Shores – The DC Children’s Advocacy Center.
“It’s been written that nothing says more about our society than what we do for children. Child abuse is preventable, and everyone has a role to play in making sure children are safe – physically and emotionally. Given Safe Shores’ profound commitment to the safety and wellbeing of every child in our Nation’s Capital and the ongoing need for increased public engagement in stopping child abuse, we are excited to pursue chapter status with Prevent Child Abuse America,” commented Cole. “Safe Shores’ prevention education work has grown significantly in recent years, so affiliating with Prevent Child Abuse America couldn’t be timelier. We are honored to join the network,” Cole says.
