Welcome PCA Oregon!
In a powerful partnership, Prevent Child Abuse America and Relief Nursery will now begin full-scale child abuse and neglect prevention efforts, combining their expertise in child welfare advocacy, policy, and frontline services for children and families in Oregon.
Prevent Child Abuse Oregon will be led by Relief Nursery Executive Director, Kelly Sutherland, and PCA Oregon Executive Committee Co-Chairs, Harold Goldstein and Mickey Lansing-Luehrs.
Relief Nursery, with sites in Eugene and Springfield, provides comprehensive family support programs for low-income parents with children up to six years of age, including the Therapeutic Early Childhood Program, Outreach and Crisis Response and Parent Education. Relief Nursery services include Healthy Families – a Prevent Child Abuse America evidence-based family support program, which has nearly 600 home visiting sites throughout 38 states and six U.S. territories.
“The missions of Prevent Child Abuse Oregon, Prevent Child Abuse America, and Relief Nursery are completely aligned in their dedication to addressing the prevention of child abuse and neglect in all forms. PCA Oregon is particularly excited to be working in partnership with Relief Nursery to create synergy on behalf of the most vulnerable populations in our state,” said Harold Goldstein.
“The high cost of child abuse, whether measured in terms of human suffering or the financial burden it creates for taxpayers, shows a clear need for our nation, states and communities to make investment in child abuse prevention a priority. Relief Nursery is privileged to join the Prevent Child Abuse America team by hosting the PCA Oregon chapter. Together we will build on the success of our public/private partnerships to strengthen families and keep children safe,” said Kelly Sutherland.
